Welcome to AMADES

Mediterranean restaurant and creative tapas in Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter

At AMADES, our cooking draws on Catalan and Spanish traditions, with a contemporary touch and inspiration from further afield. From tapas and sharing plates to paellas and other rice dishes, carefully selected wines and cocktails, we bring together familiar flavours and new ideas in a historic setting in Barcelona’s old town.

The restaurant

A place with history and character.

AMADES occupies an old building with exposed stone walls, original wooden beams and a distinctive curved staircase. Downstairs, the bar and dining room sit alongside the kitchen, while upstairs is our main dining area, with space for families, friends and larger groups. Each part of the restaurant has its own atmosphere, but they all share the character of the building.

A Place in History

A little history behind AMADES.

AMADES sits on Carrer dels Banys Nous, a street whose name goes back to the public baths established here in the 12th century. Its history stretches from Roman Barcino through medieval Barcelona and the old Jewish Quarter. Today, the street is still part of the city’s everyday life, and AMADES is part of that continuing story.
